I purchased Kaiser Lee board from Art Glass Decor in Lewisville to make a square mold that I could drop slump a plate/dish.
I cut the Kaiser Lee board into a 6 inch square and then cut a 5 inch square from the middle ( so I had an inch edge). I sanded it wearing a mask and then coated it with kiln wash so my glass wouldn't stick. I let the mold dry for 3 days; the board really soaks up the kiln wash!
I cut a 6 inch square of clear art glass (bottom) and white orange opal (top) plus four inch squares of deep forest green white opal (placed) in each corner.I fully fused the 6 inch square in my kiln and then slightly beveled the edges prior to placing on the mold.
I set the mold on one inch kiln posts and drop slumped. I love the way the green starts to drop into the bowl at each corner. I love the way it turned out even though I had to cut my mold....I learned that I need to "flash cool" the process just as the glass hit the kiln floor....otherwise the bottom is too big for the mold to slide off! OOPS! No worries. I will be able to use the kaiser lee board I cut for other things!!!
Has anyone else used Kaiser Lee Board and had an OOPS moment that they would like to share so we can all learn???
P.S.
This design is NOT for sale...I'm making some funky serving dishes for my mom. She wants an eccletic mix! I think this qualifies! ;)
