Playing with Art Clay Silver in the Jewelry Studio

Excuse the poor photography. The art clay silver is so shiny that even though I use Auto WB the pictures do not do these little charms justice.

So what the heck is art clay silver? Art Clay Silver is pure metal powder mixed with non-toxic binders and water that when fired your end product is pure fine silver (99.9%).....because the binders and water burn off.
Cool or what!

I've been wanting to try more since I made a pair of earrings with Cheryl at Art Glass Decor .

To make these little charms, I rolled out the clay and used assorted rubber stamps coated with olive oil to create texture, add the heart design and write the word pink.

The star charm is actually two individual charms that I soldered together after they had been fired. You can use art clay silver paste to adhere/fuse designs together but I did not buy any so out came the torch.

The heart and star charm either need a hole punched or a jump ring soldered. Haven't decided yet...

I also would like to get more liver of sulfur to antique and make the designs pop! It's on my studio supply list. I try to order only once/month to save s/h and get a bigger discount because I bulk order.

I think I could get addicted to this Art Clay Silver ....it is so much quicker than metal fabrication techniques! ;)

Flamingos in January

This ring did not last long at my last market but just wanted to post it because it was so cute! I had a few a silver charms left over and thought I would incorporate them into some single stone wire wrapped rings. Looks like I'll have to make a few more!
