New Metal Smited Glass & Semi-Precious Gemstone Designs

Yesterday, I was is in a super creative mood and just played in the studio. Here are a couple of goodies that I will need to add to the jewelry boutique over the next few days.

These earrings are just so cute. They are created from chocolate and pink art glass that has been fused in my kiln. These little pink dots are ~3/8 of an inch in diameter. Hung on silver french wires. I'd love to know what you think of this design...just comment or drop me a line at ddjb AT designing-diva DOT com .

I love the medium art glass, especially dichroic glass. This pendant was created from a rectangular cabochon that is 3 layers thick: black base, dichroic in the middle and a clear glass cap.I wanted to show off the "pink dichroic honeycomb" pattern and created a prong setting on a square sheet of sterling silver. The bail has some decorative funk. I did warn you I was in creative expression mode. I love the way it turned out and I hope it finds a good home...if not, I won't have any problem keeping this one! ;)

OMG, when I saw these triangular Mexican Lace Agate pairs at the Rock Barrel they went straight into my cart. The colors in this are just amazing. I bezel set these with large hoops. They are hung from sterling perfect balance ear wires (a heavier guage) so you don't have to worry about losing your Mexican Lace.

What a conversation starter, these wire wrapped geode slices will be....brilliant pink or blue. The slices are amazingly lightweight and 1/8 of an inch think and ~ 2.5 inches thick. I picked a great assortment; each one has it's own personality. The pink one pictured reminds of someone's lips and mouth. Do you see it to?

New Jewelry Design: Handcrafted Blue-Green-Brown Dichroic Glass Pendant

I recently purchased some wavy/textured dichroic glass** from Art Glass Decor in Lewisville, TX. If you live in the DFW area, check out what Greg and Cheryl have to offer the glass and hobby artist. They do have an E-bay store as well.

This is a 3 layer thick fused glass pendant:
Bottom is black art glass
Middle is the new wavy/textured dichroic glass that I purchased from Art Glass Decor
Top is clear glass

I just love the way this tile pendant turned out. I will have it up in the Dichroic Glass Section as soon as I can.

**What is Dichroic Glass?
Made by vacuum depositing a special coating onto a glass sheet. The process creates a mirror like finish that reflects a specific color but when the glass is held up to the light, a different color is seen (transmitted) through the glass. This is a NASA technology that we fused glass artists have borrowed for jewelry making and decorative purposes!

New Jewelry Designs Have Been Added

Continuing with my glass addiction, I created this "sapphire" dichroic glass cabochon and named it Saphira. (I just read Eragon. How did you guess?!)
The cabochon has been bezel set in silver and placed on my version of a dog tag pendant with an over sized(10mm closed ring).

I did mention I was a glass addict right?? I dug through my silver scrap to create this funky art pendant. The crown jewel is a denim blue and black dichroic glass cabochon that has been bezel set. The picture just does not do this justice. I'm not sure if I'm going to sell this one...it looks so cool on! I know...it's evil of me to share but not offer you to buy it! ;)

Hmm. There is definitely a BLUE theme going on today! This dichroic glass pendant was my experimenting to come up with glass that looked like lapis lazuli (another one of my favorite stones...ok, I'm so busted...which one isn't my favorite!) I had created grooves in the pendant to create a pinch bail but it just didn't look right so I wire wrapped it and I'm just so pleased with the way it turned out!
