Unexpected design opportunity........

fused glass plate
Well, today I have an unexpected design opportunity. ;)

The 6" square plate that I was fusing in the kiln "cracked" and slipped down the sides of the mold. Thank goodness my mold and kiln shelf are coated with kiln powder (glass release)!!

At first it made me so sad, because I really liked the design.....but now I have the chance to make it into something even better. The cool thing about glass is you can just "fuse" it again and no harm done! :)

I haven't had a fused glass oops in a while .......just reminded me I still have lots to learn about this amazing medium.

Happy Diva

I'm one happy Diva this morning. I got a call that my kiln is in. Woohoo. I won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow but I'm so excited. I've waited almost 12 weeks (and not very patiently I may add). I have some new designs that I'm itching to test out and pitch to some designs for a clothing designer that I'm meeting at the end of June. You'll have to wait until after the meeting for the label to be revealed.......this designer is already established and has well known clients so my "delivery" has to be spot on in order for a mutual business agreement to be made. It is very exciting and no matter what the outcome will be an incredible learning experience for me. The trials and tribulations of an emerging jewelry designer...

Fused Glass Withdrawal

Okay, I'm going through serious fused glass withdrawal!! My kiln is still NOT in and I only have two pendants left on my website (big pouty face!).
I'm hoping to have the kiln by Memorial Day; it has only been oh...8 weeks now!!!
I have several sketches and some new glass etching materials that I am just super excited to try out; I would like to have time to experiment for the possibility of teaming up with another indie designer whom get to meet in June when she'll be here for Dallas Market Hall (you'll just have to wait until June...I'll either be ecstatic or bummed but either way I'll share how it goes!)
Ok, enough ramblings....

P.S.
