John and Blake worked really hard on the pine car (right up until the morning of the race) for the Scouting Pine Car Race. John kept telling Blake that they might not even place so not to be too disappointed because this was their first attempt at the whole d-i-y Pine car! John went through a few sets of wheels and even used my Grobet flex shaft that I got for Christmas before I did!
I'm not sure who was more surprised that the "Texas Tornado" built by father and son set a few track records and won the overall heats for being a speedster.
At the annual Blue and Gold banquet, Blake was very excited to get this trophy from the Den Master, Mike Parrish. Congratulations son! (and dad too)
John & Blake are planning to race the Texas Tornado in other pine car races .....wonder what they will build for next year's race ????
