Thoughts on Success-personal & jewelry business

"If your success is not on your own terms, if it looks good to the world but does not feel good in your heart, it is not success at all." -ANNA QUINDLEN

I came across the quote in a newsletter from Pink Power Suit and it really resonated with me so I thought I would share it with everyone....

Why did this resonate with me?
Hmm. That's a loaded question...maybe because I was a good (actually pretty great) clinical scientist but it just never felt good in my heart. The long hours and dedication were a strain on my family life and with a young family ( my children just turned 8 and 6 recently) I knew where my heart lie...at home with them and my soul mate, John.

At first, jewelry was a hobby. Something I did to relieve stress (like quilting, sewing, embroidery, etc) and pass the time when the kids were in bed. I have always enjoyed making hand made gifts and everyone loved the new jewelry from the Deckard household! =) My dear friend Nozomi (who is now in Japan ) introduced me to bead weaving; she is a master of whipping up 3 dimensional designs with beads! From her kitchen table, she shared her time and love of beautiful jewelry and I have never looked back!!

I am always looking to learn new skills...I have added chainmaille, crochet, lamp working, fused glass and metal smithing/fabrication to my repertoire. I'm inspired by what ifs ..."What if I did this?" I have learned to believe in myself and my creative gene and let it take me on a journey that I could have never thought possible.....

The website is still a work in progress. I love the design and colors but as you've heard me say before...I really need to invest in a shopping cart and upgrade my digital camera (one that can handle a WB(white balance) filter). Any photography buffs in the DFW area who want to trade services??? Ya don't ask , ya don't get!

I hope this quote made you stop and think where you are in your life....I finally know what I want to be when I grow up and it only took me what 36 years!! =)
